Is your kid tired of the same lunch? Give your kid a break and make something else for a change. I’m sure that we all have tried a chicken bun/bread at some point and thoroughly enjoyed eating it. It’s very easy to prepare and you can make it on the weekends and reheat it whenever required. Give it a try and you are bound to up with the mommy of the year award.

For Bread:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 satchet of dry yeast (instant)
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • ¼ cup of oil
  • Pinch of salt

Method:

Warm the milk slightly and dissolve the sugar in it. Tip in the yeast and allow to froth up. Add the salt, oil and finally the yeast mixture to the flour and knead lightly. Form a ball and allow to prove in a warm spot. Once it has proved, knock out the air by kneading it and allow to prove again.

For Filling:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 chicken breast pieces (Cut into cubes)
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp crushed black pepper
  • 1 tbsp powdered cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp red pepper powder
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Thumb size piece of ginger
  • 1 cup milk

Method:

Saute the garlic, ginger and onions in a little oil. Add the chicken and the seasonings. When the chicken is cooked, add the flour. Stir and then add the milk. Reduce the sauce a little. Pour the fillings in your bun’s center and cover with the dough. Give an egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake for 25-30 minutes on a medium temperature. Brush with a little apricot jam when done.
