28 Jun Making of Chicken and Mushroom Pie
How many times have you looked at pictures of glorious of pies and wondered if you could have a slice. Well all your prayers have been answered. Follow this easy recipe and you will end up with a picture perfect pie that is worthy of your attention. Our biggest concern is the puff pastry. Making puff pastry is quite an exhausting process so save yourself the trouble and use a store bought one. Not only will it make your life easier but will yield a perfect flaky crust every single time. Cheats like these can help you out at times so try to use them. This pie is quite rich and heavy but if you wish to make a meal out of it, serve with mashed potatoes and a crunchy light salad.
- ½ kg boneless chicken (cut into strips)
- 1 cup fresh mushrooms or 1 tin canned
- 1 packet cream
- 1 clove of garlic
- Chicken stock
- ½ ts of salt
- ½ tsp of black pepper
- 1 tbsp flour
- Saute the chopped garlic in a little oil. Add the sliced mushrooms and stir fry for a minute.. Add a pinch of black pepper and remove from heat. In the same pan, add the chicken and cook it well. When the chicken is done, add the mushroom back into the pan and fry for a minute. Add the flour and fry. Pour the chicken stock in alongwith with the cream, mix well. Seasoning should be added now. Reduce the sauce till its thick but still pourable.
- Roll out your puff pastry and line your pie tin. Add the fillings and then cover with the rest of the puff pastry. Give it an egg wasg and bake for 30-40 minutes in the oven at a medium heat. Allow to slightly cool and serve hot.
